10331758_10204324575778478_1574887677_n13. Activity—That little rose bush twig that I threaten to yank every year because it hasn’t thrived and is totally in the way always redeems itself with roses that remind me of Daddy Gus’s garden. (HIS red roses were rambling and prolific  and nothing like this sad twig.)

10346781_10204302823114675_629768280_n16. Self Discipline –Things you can’t believe you are saying UNTIL you are dealing with a toddler …”Don’t bite the cats tail again.” (Thankfully it wasn’t OUR cat who scratched her neck!) and if you ask where she got the scratch she says, in a very matter of fact tone, “I bit Bert’s tail.”  I recall reading once that 90% of disciplining toddlers is not laughing.

Growth This azalea must have heard about my plans to yank it a few years ago, because it had sat, basically stunted, giving a half-hearted attempt at flowering and no effort put into filling the space I had for it. But as I am slow to act upon these decisions (read—lazy) it stayed put. Two years ago, it bloomed. In AUGUST. And since then it has become a thing of beauty, rambling, wild, with very large flowers that bloom three weeks later than other azaleas.

April 1st is no fool…

April 1st is no fool.

Today, most of this country would agree spring is here to stay. The flowers are about three weeks ahead of schedule down this way. We have officially finished the first quarter of the year!

It is a day where one must be careful of what gossip you are quick to spread because the pranksters are out in full force—I already see that a favorite quilt site is ‘no longer selling fabric’ and Lowe’s has figured out to permeate the house with the smell of bacon, without actually cooking….

But I digress.  For me, it is an easy 1/4 way point to check in on how things are progressing with my WORD of the year, “MOTION” and all those pesky resolution-type things.

MOTION –Yesterday, Arlie and I participated in the Monument Ave. 10K… We walked with a few spurts of running. Our times were 1:39:55 and 1:40:11 respectively. Timmy was supposed to join but he had to work Sad smile

I woke up today with no real pain—a bit of stiffness—other than blisters on the second toe of each foot, and sore toenails. Yes, I said toenails. Definitely proud of our accomplishment and I look forward to doing it again!

I have finished the first two items on the CEO Challenge at my not so-LQS, Quilting Adventures

2×4– need to take a shot of this totally quilted but no one else is awake to hold it…

Spinning Plates

untitled-M

(I would say the next one is easy, it requires so little…but…. there IS a reason it ended up on the UFO pile, right?)

The idea to be creative every day has actually not been terribly hard, if you allow for lack of photographic proof on a daily basis, and have a VERY elastic understanding of CREATIVE!

These are some of the more obvious creative days I’ve had this month.

I entered this photo—

The Decisive Moment

2009-10-NYC-51-M

in March’s Photo Show at PRAC, in Petersburg, VA.  I won Honorable Mention!  See more New York City photography.

Ok, so there. I did accomplish something.

However, Yesterdays don’t count anymore and all that. Today is the first day of the rest of your life, etc etc.

I didn’t make much progress on the cleaning/decluttering/organization stuff. BOORRRRRRIING….

I am focused this next few months on Photography.  I have three events coming up. Two show and sales–

The Heart of Virginia on May 5th, and the Fort Clifton Festival on the following weekend, the 12 and13 of May. (Can’t find a better link…this is an issue….)

Then, in June, I am having a photo exhibit down at PRAC and still have to settle on what I’m showing!!

(can’t you see the cleaning/organizing/decluttering being pushed away, AGAIN!!??)

And now, for something COMPLETELY different…

…a short story about a car, or three.
Taking a break from editing my Florida vacation photos (* you can see them if you go to the post below, and look for the word PHOTO)….

While on vacation, the three car switcheroo began. My stepson Josh’s car died …this was a distressing moment for my husband, as it had once been HIS car (and was involved in another three-car switcheroo years back, but I digress)….

Timmy momentarily, in a fit of insanity brought on by grief, suggested maybe selling his current car, the Grand Prix to Josh.

I however, knew this to be a bad idea. Timmy LOVES his car, as can be seen by the attention he lavishes on it. And Josh, no offense, wasn’t the best steward of the last car Timmy loved.

I, on the other hand, view a car as an appliance. It runs, gets me where I am going reliably (and has a good sound system) and I am good.

So we sold Josh my Montana. This opened up the opportunity for Timmy to go car shopping (one of his most favorite-ist things in the whole universe!!!)

He has had a little crush on the Pontiac Aztek for YEARS, despite the fact many think the car is ugly. And, as I don’t really CARE, that is what he located and chose for me to drive. Here, to the right, are some photos of it, now that it’s been all detailed…clean and shiny.

Part three of the switcheroo, where-in he trades his PT CRUISER convertible (his other part time mistress, who has done him wrong, apparently) needs to wait, as the value of the car versus the value of the car he’d like to replace it with (a Sebring convertible or a Bonneville, in case you care) don’t line up….

In other news, you’ll possibly note I have relegated the snow pictures to Flickr and now have some bright and shiny flowers up. Well, maybe not shiny, I’ve done some aging to them. These photos are available for sale, to you, my reader!!! Just go to my ETSY site, and ask me to sell them to you. I’d be more than happy to oblige!
